Clinical Training, Internships & Professional Development
Supporting the next generation of therapists through meaningful clinical experience, mentorship, supervision, and professional growth.
Guidance & Growth for Students, Developing Clinicians & Therapists
Illuminate Play Therapy & Counseling is committed to developing thoughtful, confident, relationship-centered clinicians. We offer graduate-level internship opportunities, clinical supervision, case consultation, and professional mentorship within a practice grounded in trauma-informed, attachment-focused, nervous-system, play, and experiential approaches.
Our approach goes beyond simply accumulating clinical hours. We want developing therapists to learn how to think clinically, understand the person behind the symptoms, build meaningful therapeutic relationships, practice ethically, and develop their own authentic identity as a therapist.
Whether you're a graduate student searching for a meaningful internship, a developing clinician building confidence, or an established therapist looking for consultation and professional support, Illuminate offers opportunities to learn within a collaborative and clinically thoughtful environment.
Clinical Training & Professional Development Opportunities
-

Clinical Supervision
Individual and group clinical supervision and consultation focused on developing clinical judgment, confidence, ethical practice, case conceptualization, and therapist identity.
Supervision may incorporate trauma-informed care, play therapy, attachment, neurodivergence, somatic and nervous-system approaches, and experiential interventions based on the clinician's training needs and scope of practice.
Licensure and credentialing supervision availability depends on current supervisor qualifications and applicable board or credentialing requirements.

-

Training & Consultation
Professional education and consultation for therapists, interns, schools, organizations, and helping professionals who want to deepen their understanding of trauma, attachment, play therapy, neurodivergence, nervous-system regulation, and experiential approaches to care.
Training opportunities may include workshops, case-based learning, clinical skill development, and customized education based on the needs of the group or organization.

Graduate Internship Opportunities
Illuminate offers graduate-level clinical internship opportunities for counseling students who want meaningful hands-on experience within a small, specialty mental health practice.
Interns have opportunities to develop their clinical identity while gaining experience with real clients, supervision, case consultation, documentation, treatment planning, and the day-to-day responsibilities of clinical practice. Depending on placement, interests, training, and client needs, interns may also gain exposure to play therapy, trauma-informed care, neurodivergent-affirming approaches, somatic and nervous-system work, sandtray, expressive interventions, groups, and other experiential approaches.
Our goal isn't simply to provide a place to complete required hours. We want interns to leave Illuminate with greater clinical confidence, stronger judgment, meaningful experience, and a clearer understanding of who they are becoming as therapists.

Case Consultation
Individual or small-group consultation for clinicians seeking another clinical perspective on complex cases, treatment direction, therapeutic approaches, or areas where they feel stuck.
Consultation may explore trauma, attachment, play therapy, neurodivergence, dissociation, nervous-system responses, therapeutic relationships, ethical considerations, and integration of experiential approaches based on the clinician's needs.
Consultation is educational and collaborative and does not replace formal clinical supervision when supervision is required.

Honoring Both Clinical Excellence
& Therapist Wellbeing
Becoming a therapist is about more than learning interventions, completing clinical hours, or meeting credentialing requirements. The work asks us to bring our knowledge, judgment, presence, curiosity, and humanity into the therapy room.
At Illuminate, we believe strong clinicians develop when they have space to ask questions, make mistakes, reflect honestly, receive thoughtful feedback, and discover the kind of therapist they want to become. Supervision, consultation, and internship experiences are designed to support both clinical skill and professional identity.
Whether you're entering the field as a graduate intern or continuing to grow as an experienced clinician, you deserve professional support that challenges you while also recognizing your strengths, values, experiences, and individual way of connecting with clients.

We believe clinicians grow best in an environment that balances support with challenge, curiosity with accountability, and clinical knowledge with authentic human connection. Our approach to training, supervision, and mentorship is collaborative, reflective, and deeply clinical.
